Thanks to our student volunteers, Adi, Anya, Ara, Emily, Emmy, Elliot, Ezra, Kate, Maddie, Payson, and Rebecca for getting to know our cats and then writing these paw-some profiles. You will notice that our cats range from about 1 year old to 14 years old. We don’t take in cats under 8 months old, but if you’re looking to adopt a kitten we suggest checking out rescue partners PALS Animal Lifesavers and PAWS Wakefield. OUR CURRENT CATS

  • Madeleine

Bonjour Kitty! This five year old girl was surrendered to PALS by her family who could no longer care for her. She clearly loves attention from people, playing with the mouse wand, and strutting around her gorgeousness. We asked our Emilie, our French Canadian vet tech, to come up with a French name that befits her beauty and sass so we are now calling her Madeleine! Expect fancy cookies to celebrate her arrival :) Madeleine would probably do best as an only pet in a home where she could soak up all your attention and meow in French! Madeleine has an approved adopter and will be going to her furr-ever home in a few weeks.

  • Lex

Lex is a dapper older gentleman who enjoys looking sharp in his fancy bow ties!  He came to us in rough shape with many health issues including diabetes, arthritis, and irritable bowel.  This made some basic cat activities like walking and jumping or even grooming difficult. You could tell he just didn't feel well.  A change of diet to a novel protein diet (consisting of rabbit, duck, venison, and even alligator - $600/month!) and an injection for his arthritis has Lex feeling like a new kitty!  This 14 year old miracle boy takes his insulin without issue, has put on weight, and is now walking, jumping, demanding his yummy food, and snoozing in cozy spots. He feels so much better!  With his expert biscuit making and soulful eyes, he is sure to steal your heart, just as he has stolen ours.

  • Chickpea

Chickpea is a three year old stray who was rescued and fostered by PAWS Wakefield for 4 months.  He’s shy but is progressing step by step to becoming the energetic cat we know he is inside.  He now regularly adventures out, climbing his cat tree and playing with his favorite wand toy, and wrestling with his buddies, especially Reed.  When he first arrived in September, he wouldn’t let anyone pet him. Now, he asks for pets by head bumping people’s hands. We know this little chickpea has more than hummus to offer. His new people will have to work to make him continue to feel loved and safe. We also think he might like a cat buddy to keep him company.  We can’t wait to see how he continues to progress into the best Chickpea ever.

  • Mimi

Mimi is a sweet one year old cat who was brought to the cafe by PAWS when she was found on the streets pregnant. She came to us extremely shy, but during her time at the cafe, she has continuously become more brave. Even though she is quite the introvert, she is starting to break out of her shell. She has been enjoying pets and playing with toys, especially the chain.  Although hesitant at first, she will follow the chain around the cafe.  However, her favorite thing is to sit quietly in a tree or bed while people talk to her. If you sit next to her and listen closely, you can hear her saying, “Adopt Me Me. Adopt Mimi.”  Mimi has an approved adopter and will be going to her furr-ever home in a few weeks.

  • Nona

Nona is a cute little one-year-old rescued by PAWS animal rescuers during the brush fires from under a porch, along with all her kittens.  She can be easily recognized by the little orange mark on her head, or in other words a marmalade spot.  Even all of her kittens have a marmalade spot!  Nona is rather shy, minding her own business in a comfy place rather than going out and exploring or socializing with other cats.  However, she does love human contact, and will gladly accept pats or scritches from a kind person.  Nona has an approved adopter and will be going to her furr-ever home in a few weeks.

  • Dexter

Dexter is a sweet 2 year old who was rescued as a stray by PALS during a recent cold snap. For a cat who was pretty scarred and roughed up outside, he exhibits the sweetest purr-sonality. Dexter loves pets and headrubs but can get overstimulated sometimes. We’re still working on building on his confidence and lowering his anxiety, getting his coat clean and shiny, helping him make friends, and figuring out what his favorite toys are. But we already know that he will be an amazing companion to whoever adopts him.

  • Darryl

Darryl is a one year old boy who is super eager to join the family at the Kitty Cat Cafe. He has already been a dad and came to us from PAWS Wakefield. He is very playful and loves to chase wands. He loves attention and all of the visitors that come into the cafe, showing off his gymnastics routine on a regular basis. You can pretty much dare Darryl into doing anything.  He jumps on shoulders and even rides on Uri’s shoulders when he vacuums the cafe each morning. Darryl can’t wait to find his person so he can ride off into the sunset.  Darryl has an approved adopter and will be going home in a few weeks.

  • Jack Black

You’ve probably seen his movies and heard his music, so we’re honored to have such a celebrity at our cafe. Jack Black is a sweet, high energy 1 year old cat who was rescued by PALS as a stray. He does his best creative work while sitting on laps and is planning on starting a School of Rock at the cafe, featuring Lex on drums and Madeleine on keyboard. Jack Black is incredibly soft, reminding us of Lord Purrington and is charming us all with his friendliness. Jack Black has an approved adopter and will be going to his furr-ever home in a few weeks.

  • Max

Max is a 9 year old Siamese that was brought to us through a joint rescue effort between PAWS and PALS after his owner could no longer care for him. He is super friendly and has even shown an affinity for laps. We believe that Max is really short for “Maximum Love!” Max has kidney issues and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and we’re working with vets to stabilize his condition and help him gain weight back.

  • Greyjack (aka Lady Grey)

Rescued by PAWS from an abandoned apartment, Greyjack (aka Lady Grey) is one of the tiniest cats we’ve had. This 2 year old sweetheart is our newest shy cat project, but if you reach in to pet her, she will start relaxing and might even reward you with her glorious purr.
